Oh, damn! You must be something of an expert. I'll have to recruit you into teaching me how to play it some day so that I don't look like such a gaming loser. :p
Oh, League of legends.. I tried to play that a few times and was totally lost. I ended up "feeding the enemy" with my continuous deaths according to my friend. I was just awful. Haha
How about you though?
Hola, my spanish isn't terrible. I'm beginner
I just find it all a little hard to digest that an entire nation of people would adopt a Germanic culture so easily after so many years of Romanisation. Further to that, they are adopting their architecture, clothing styles, burial practices, and most importantly their language.
The biggest and arguably strongest point in favour of a cultural shift would be something along the lines of reasoning that much of Britain wears American jeans and uses American slang words, with a strong influence from American media - but that doesn't make us American. In the same way that if these people adopt clothing, linguistic influences and even cultural rituals and practices that doesn't necessarily make them Germanic anglo-saxon in origin.
Anyway, sorry for the rambling here.. I'm not even sure if you're aware of the Anglo-Saxon migration, or Romano-Britain, let alone if you're even interested. Haha
That's awesome! For me I've been doing a lot of part-time work in the archaeological department and I've been loving it. I'm a bit torn between the more practical sides of archaeology and the more academic historian, but either way I'd ideally love to write my own books on early to late antiquity.
I've been reading a lot about discussions on the Anglo-saxon migration - or lack thereof - after the decline of the Western Roman Empire, which has been really fascinating for me considering that the English place heavy emphasis on their Saxon heritage. There seems to be mounting evidence that no such mass migration and/or invasion ever took place and that it was more of a cultural spread that took hold almost completely.
I'm not sure that I fully buy it, if I'm honest, especially following the events of more recent times watching people the world over react in panic to cultural change, but I suppose I'm falling into the bad habit of looking back in time with modern eyes. Hah
Oh, I'm sorry to hear that! I hope that changes for you.
What kind of job are you looking for ideally? :]
